This provides students with a Doodle Note Page about genres within literature. It also contains additional teacher notes, a suggested book list, and a genre check list worksheet to use with any novel, picture book, poem, or film.
Genre lessons & activities
With the creation of the doodle notes, I have also developed lessons and activities to help introduce various literature genres. They are a mix of worksheets and activities to help students understand literary genres.
Genre Essays
Essays developed especially to accompany specific literature genres. This will help students develop various writing skills as well as diving into literature elements.

These are ways to have students have a “reader response” experience with any novel, without using novel-specific questions. Options for these will include simple chapter summary pages and elements of a book journal (with levels appropriate for middle school and high school).
